Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A mobile court on Friday adjourned the trail of four policemen accused of killing civilian last year in Juba.<\/p>\n

In June last year, policemen stormed the court room in Juba, disrupted the session and opened fire at people killing one person on spot and injured six others.<\/p>\n

The motive for killing was not clear although the authorities arrested the culprits.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters after adjournment of court hearing in Juba on Friday, defense lawyer of complainer, Advocate Godfrey Victor Bulla, said the court hearing was adjourned to 8th September after he appealed for the arrest of the accused.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe submitted an application asking the court for the arrest of these active policemen to be detained in central prison where they will wait for their trial,\u201d Bulla told reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese policemen were not arrested; they were detained in police facility. So today (Friday) were submitted an application before the court asking the court for the arrest of these policemen and they should be detained in prison waiting for the trial,\u201d Bulla added.<\/p>\n

Bulla claimed that the accused were detained at police custody which he said is unlawful act for murder case under 206 of penal code of South Sudan, 2008.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe case has been opened under 206 which is murder and the accused who are police, their immunity were removed by the inspector general of police which is the procedures of the law to enable them stand the trial and to answer to the charges they have been accused off,\u201d Bulla said.<\/p>\n

He applied to the court for the transferred of the four policemen to Central Prison.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe policemen who were accused appeared before the court to answer questions for their responsibility in the shooting of civilians that led to the death of one person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe section under which they are charged is a serious offense that does not grantee any bail and for that purpose, all of us are equal before the law and policemen should be treated equally like any other citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n
