Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s main armed opposition leader and the country\u2019s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny will soon replace the late minister of water resources and irrigation who passed away in June, according to a senior opposition official.<\/p>\n

Manawa died of heart-related complication in the Egyptian capital Cairo, just two days after he was flown in from Juba, but the main armed opposition Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) did not name a replacement to time for family to grief.<\/p>\n

The Acting Press Secretary in the Office of the First Vice President and SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Baluang said a replacement for the late water minister will be identified following the 40th day memorial prayer.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, the position can\u2019t remain empty. The SPLM (IO) leadership will submit the name of the replacement after the 40th prayer of the late Manawa Peter,\u201d Baluang is quoted by The City Review as saying.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the spokesman of the ministry of water resources and irrigation, Gattiek Gatkuoth Wichar, said the 40th day memorial prayer will be conducted in the capital Juba on Sunday at Medan Simba where the first prayer was conducted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to announce to you all that the 40- day prayer for the late. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hon. Manawa Peter will take place on Sunday, 28th of August 2022 in Medan Simba (Simba Square) near Al-Giada Military Headquarters at 11:00 AM,\u201d he said in the statement to Sudans Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll friends, relatives, colleagues and the general public are invited to attend. May his soul continue resting in eternal peace,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n
