Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The coalition of women, youth, and society forum at Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) called for three months of consultation on the roadmap before the extension of the peace implementation.<\/p>\n

Malish John Peter, Youth Representative at RJMEC said the government should first engage on the roadmap and its implementation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe submit that today, this meeting adopts a resolution that gives three months for consultation with citizens to solicit their views on the proposed extension,\u201d Peter said during the RJMEC meeting yesterday.<\/p>\n

Peter said youth demand to have a say on the contents of the roadmap and its implementation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to have views on the extension of roadmap and on how the extension will look like. This would also give chance for the parties to explain why the agreement lagged behind in its implementation,\u201d Peter said.<\/p>\n

Peter said the youth also need to know what the parties will do differently this time around to implement the peace deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to know what will be done differently to ensure that the tasks ahead including elections will be accomplished within 24 months timeframe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The youth leader said the three months consultation will not hamper the progress in the implementation of the roadmap.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese three months for consultations will not hamper progress in implementation of the priorities identify in the roadmap because the tasks are contained in the R-ARCSS and agreement shall be valid until February 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter completing consultation with citizens, we can all reconvene for another extraordinary meeting to consider the views of the citizens and shape a way forward that is inclusive and pro-people and enjoy the blessing of the people not just the parties in Juba.\u201d<\/p>\n

He argued that the entire process should be inclusive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain open to hearing the parties think about our proposal and avail ourselves to discussing details of operationalizing the proposed citizens\u2019 consultation on the roadmap.\u201d<\/p>\n
