Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>At least six people including a woman have been killed and at least 9 people including a police officer is injured after demonstrators clashed on Monday morning with security forces in the Upper Nile state capital Malakal, according to Upper Nile state police commissioner.<\/p>\n

Eye Radio reports that over 200 people, most of whom are government officials, took to the streets of Malakal town to protest an order by the government transferring them to counties and other local government divisions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happened is a demonstration in Malakal town this [Monday] morning at 9:30 am, and during the demonstration, some of the demonstrators threw stones at the organized force,\u201d Major General Chol Atem, the police commissioner, said.<\/p>\n

The senior police officer stated that at least \u201ceight people got injured by the live bullets\u201d and \u201ctwo women and six men, and one of them [38-year-old Achol Gabriel Amum] died.\u201d<\/p>\n

General Achol Atem further said that one of the security officers was injured.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the police forces was injured on his head with thrown stone and another one from national security was injured on his leg,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
