Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Sudan<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s central bank has directed commercial banks to block accounts of the Juba-based Sudd Institute and three other civil society organizations for allegedly having links to the People\u2019s Coalition for Civil Action (CPPA).<\/p>\n

In a directive to local banks, the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) said three organizations that it alleges are connected to the People\u2019s Coalition for Civil Action includes Sudd Institutes, a national think tank based in the country\u2019s capital Juba.<\/p>\n

The others include Okay Africa Foundation led by prominent activist Wani Michael, Foundation for Democracy and Accountable Governance led by Jame David Kolok, and Organization for Responsive Governance headed by activist Rajab Muhandis.<\/p>\n

The three activists have previously called for protest against the government of President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Muhandis is one of fugitive leaders of the PCCA who are on the run from the notorious National Security Service.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are hereby directed to block all the bank accounts of the below organizations with immediate effects,\u201d the central bank orders local banks on \u201cSudan Institute, Organization for Responsive Governance, Okay Africa, Foundation for Democracy and Accountable Governance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHence, in light of the above, all commercial banks dealing with these organizations must block their account until further notice,\u201d the letter signed by Moses Makur Deng, the Central Bank Director General of banking Supervision, Research and Statistics, added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
