Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) Edmund Yakani has called on South Sudan leaders to develop good working relations and advance the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.<\/p>\n

The prominent activist made the call as the world and the country mark International Day of Peace. The International Day of Peace, also officially known as World Peace Day, is a United Nations-sanctioned holiday observed annually on 21 September.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Sudans Post, Yakani urged South Sudan political leaders to renew commitment for the full implementation of the revitalized peace agreement they signed in 2018 but has not yet been fully implemented.<\/p>\n

\u201cCEPO take this opportunity as the world and South Sudan are marking the 21 September 2022 as International Peace Day to urge the political leaders and specifically the presidency to take the International Peace Day as a day for renewal of political pledge for successful implementation of the peace agreement (R-ARCSS),\u201d Yakani said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet the presidency to sincerely change their political attitudes towards genuine partnership for peace and successful political transitional from violence to peace,\u201d Yakani added.<\/p>\n

The vocal activist further called on the peace presidency to bring to end the deadly fighting between the breakaway SPLA-IO Kitgwang faction led by General Simon Gatwech Dual and the Agwelek under General Johnson Olony Thabo and to also enable a conducive civil space.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe on gong deadly violence among general Johnson Olony and Simon Gatwech should be stop immediately through dialogue and non-violent approach,\u201d Yakani said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCEPO calls upon the presidency to ensure the civic space for expression and dialogue across the South Sudan is respect and observed by the Security officers,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
