Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Health said on Sunday that one of the five cases it was investigating for Ebola has died before laboratory confirmation.<\/p>\n

According to Mabior Kuir, the Chief of Planning and Information at the Public Health Emmergency Operation Center, the fatal case was detected in Kajokeji County on September 30.<\/p>\n

The victim presented with high fever, vomiting blood and nose bleeding before succumbing to the symptoms.<\/p>\n

Mabior who spoke to reporters during a press briefing today at the center, says the other cases recorded in Yei, Nimule,Yambio and Kajojeki are in stable condition in isolation centers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have five alerts and one suspect passed on,\u2019 said Mabior.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur team, the safe and dignified burial team at the state level responded and the person was buried and they communicated the health awareness to the family not to come closer to person seen having the symptoms of Ebola,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u2018We should be vigilant of the situation and should you come across someone experiencing the sign and symptoms of the disease or unexplained death, call us on 6666.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Director General for Preventive Health Services Dr. John Rumunu reiterated that there is no Ebola outbreak in the country as confirmation can be only through lab test.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere must be lab confirmation to say that there is Ebola and like I said earlier, our surveillance system is very sensitive and (the fatal case). There is no history of travel to Ebola-affected areas,\u201d said Dr. Rumunu.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich means there is no contact with Ebola case and therefore, we cannot say that is Ebola the only thing is that our surveillance is sensitive, it can detect Ebola.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ugandan outbreak is said to have been caused by the rare and less infectious Sudan strain which does not have a vaccine at the moment.<\/p>\n

According to Ugandan media reports, the hemorrhagic fever has so far infected 35 people and killed seven others as of late last month.<\/p>\n

Dr Rumunu specified that Ebola mainly spreads through contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person, and that it has symptoms including unexplained bleeding, muscle pain, headaches, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea among others.<\/p>\n
