Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan on Wednesday unenvied plans to establish an electronic payroll system to get rid of ghost workers.<\/p>\n

The move came after the government lost millions of South Sudanese pounds to ghost names.<\/p>\n

Government spokesman and information minister Michael Makuei Lueth said if an electronic payroll system comes into effect, it will assist the government to get rid of ghost workers by automating the payrolls.<\/p>\n

\u201cElectronic payroll system, this is the computerized paying system whereby people are paid through the computer system, and the names are computerized, it\u2019s another way of fighting this duplication of names and payment of ghost names,\u201d Makuei told journalists following an extraordinary council of ministers sitting held in Juba on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many people who could be working in different places and getting paid at the same time from all over,\u201d Makuei added.<\/p>\n

The government spokesman revealed that the management of the system will be funded and supervised by an expert to be hired by the World Bank.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the World Bank which will be funding it and it will be funding payroll coordinator and payroll coordinator will be appointed and it is the World Bank that will be paying him,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the government will be contributing 800,000 U.S dollars annually for the maintenance and management of payroll systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is required from us is to pay the sum of 800,000 U.S dollars annually for the maintenance which is currently available up to the time when biometric.\u201d<\/p>\n
