Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A senior SPLA-IO officer was killed in a revenge attack in Mayom County of South Sudan’s Unity state, authorities there said.<\/p>\n

The Executive Director of Mayom County Isaac Gatdet Gany Madut told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that the officer identified as Brigadier General Gapnyany Pey was killed on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“There was a revenge killing of SPLM-IO brigadier general in Mankien Payam by suspected armed youth from within the community. This happened on Sunday,” he said.<\/p>\n

Wuor Keat, the press secretary of the former commissioner in Mayom county, also confirmed the killing, saying the officer was killed in a revenge mission.<\/p>\n

According to Keat, no one had been arrested by yesterday and the security situation remained stable in Mankien Payam.<\/p>\n
