Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The South Sudan Red Cross said it has taken up preparedness activities to respond to the Ebola Virus disease that has griped the neighboring Uganda.<\/p>\n

SSRC said it has also received 300, 000 US dollars in funding from partners and deployed 240 trained volunteers to the border areas.<\/p>\n

The border areas are Nimule border point, Kajo-Keji, Kaya, Morobo, Yei, Maridi, Yambio, and Juba<\/p>\n

According to the organization, it received about one hundred and fifty-three thousand, eight hundred and twenty-four (153,824) US dollars from the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for preparedness activities.<\/p>\n

And additional funding of thousand one hundred and seventy-five (149,175) dollars was donated by Danish Red Cross, Swedish Red Cross, and the Netherlands Red Cross.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur focus is on community awareness. We are using the available resources like our volunteers to engage with the communities and raise awareness within the population,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n

Red Cross says each of the hot spot areas will have 28 volunteers and two community specialists.<\/p>\n

It says the teams will engage directly with communities through house-to-house visits, mass awareness of symptoms, and prevention of the Ebola Virus disease.<\/p>\n

The volunteers also were trained on how to conduct safe and dignified burials, in case of an outbreak and a person dies of the disease.<\/p>\n
