Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Eastern Equatoria Governor, Louis Lobong has apologised to the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) for the destruction of their property during the liberation struggle.<\/p>\n

The church properties were destroyed by soldiers during the civil war.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to apologise because what you built last time was destroyed by the war. [For instance] Hilleu of the current Himodonge and Hanachahori were the best sites with nice buildings in our state with 24-hour electricity,\u201d Lobong said during the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Norwegian Church Aid operation in Eastern Equatoria State.<\/p>\n

The church has been operating in the state since 1972.<\/p>\n

Lobong said that while the liberation struggle was pertinent and necessary at the time, it had reached another time for self-liberation.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged the contributions made by NCA that he said he had witnessed since he was a young boy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was still very young when we were moving with beads in the areas, and during that time some children were also named NCA.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to assure you that we are not going back again to war. We have learnt a lesson from fighting among ourselves,\u201d Lobong said.<\/p>\n

He appealed to the Norwegians to continue supporting the locals in the state through the provision of services.<\/p>\n

Lobong applauded the NCA for building more dispensaries, schools, and cooperatives across the area during the 1980s.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NCA established cooperatives both in urban and rural areas and that was the first time I heard about something called cooperative.\u201d \u201cThey also built health centres in the state.<\/p>\n

I think it is a testimony that the schools that started here were built by the NCA,\u201d Lobong said.<\/p>\n
