Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Two patients who were suspected to have contracted Ebola and isolated at Nimule Hospital in Eastern Equatoria State were discharged over the weekend.<\/p>\n

According to health officials, the two patients were later referred to get treatment for malaria and trauma counseling respectively.<\/p>\n

Last week Nimule Hospital isolated two suspected alerts of the Ebola Virus Disease referred from Pageri and Nimule town.<\/p>\n

Lodae Pasqual Romeo, the Eastern Equatoria State health minister, said after extensive tests, the two patients were removed from isolation and got treatment within the hospital.<\/p>\n

“The two people that were in isolation, one from Pageri and another from Nimule town, were diagnosed to be having severe malaria and trauma respectively after they went through a lot of examinations,\u201d he said. \u201cThey were later transferred to the main treatment center. These clients were referred to specific places for treatment and have already been discharged from isolation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minister Lodae explained that a surveillance team and trained personnel from Juba have been deployed along the border points to screen and manage Ebola cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got people who are managing suspected cases and are specially trained to manage Ebola,\u201d he said. \u201cWe also have a special team that does surveillance at the checkpoint and screening of people who come in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Gama Emmanuel, the health director in Magwi County, confirmed that the two suspected patients were discharged on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were discharged after they did not meet the standard case definition and they were taken to the admission ward to be treated and managed under different conditions and not Ebola,\u201d he said. \u201cThe hospital is okay and we do not have any cases in isolation.”<\/p>\n
