Africa-Press<\/a> – South-Sudan<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The ministry of health in the Abyei Administrative Area said they received about over 400 doses of the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccines last week.<\/p>\n

The minister, Dr. Ayom Korchek said on Friday that vaccinations will commence tomorrow Tuesday after a team of health experts from Juba train Abyei health staff the administration of the new vaccines.<\/p>\n

“After we have completed AstraZeneca vaccines from the first round and second round, we have received 97 vials of Johnson & Johnson vaccines which is equivalent to 485 doses,” Dr. Korchek said. “The vaccinations will start on Tuesday next week because there are no cards that should be given to a recipient who might take a jab.”<\/p>\n

He adds, “The team will come on Monday next week from the national Ministry of Health to train the health staff on how they can vaccinate people on new vaccines, and thereafter, the vaccination will start on Tuesday. The difference between AstraZeneca vaccines and Johnson & Johnson is that the jab for J&J is taken once while Astrazenenica vaccines require a recipient to take two doses at different times.”<\/p>\n

Kon Thon, acting director-general for Abyei’s health ministry said urged the population to turn out for the vaccinations in two centers. “The vaccination centers are Agok and Abyei, so, I call everyone to come on the vaccination day but this time around is only for people who didn’t take the first jabs,” he said.<\/p>\n
