Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Juba City Council has blamed East Africa Go Green Company, which it contracted to collect garbage \u2013 for failing to execute its duty of keeping the country\u2019s capital clean.<\/p>\n

Kalisto Tombe Jube, the Director of Public Health at the municipal council says the Go-Green company has failed to keep Juba clean as promised despite collecting garbage fees from the public.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo Green has failed. You asked whether they were paid money or not. They are the ones collecting money. Now they are the ones collecting money,\u201d said Tombe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have even sat in a meeting twice or thrice and asked them where the problem is because Juba is now dirty. One day, I went to His Worship (Mayor Allah-Jabu) and told him this situation is getting worse and is bringing us problems at City Council.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January 2022, the City Council contracted the East Africa Go Green company for garbage collection in the capital.<\/p>\n

This was after some residents of Juba raised concerns about what they called the \u201cslow and lazy tendency\u201d of the authority in keeping the city hygienic.<\/p>\n

Despite the agreement, some members of the public have continued to raise concerns about the recurring accumulation of garbage in the city.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Eye Radio\u2019s Sundown Program on Monday, Tombe said the company needs to live up to its standard.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are now the ones taking control of collecting money, but they are not collecting the waste. Even when I said Go Green failed, I said this in their presence. I told them that you have failed. If you cannot manage the waste, say you cannot manage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Attempts to reach the Managing Director of East Africa Go Green Company were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
