Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Political space at the states is worse compared to the national level, Nathaniel Oyet, First Deputy Speaker \u2013 Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly has claimed.<\/p>\n

Oyet accused the governors of acting outside the law adding that state bosses have refused to incorporate the peace agreement into the local laws.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy should our civil societies who are not even armed be in exile?\u201d posed Oyet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have managed to abolish the student societies from our universities. They don\u2019t think for themselves anymore because they will be followed. Even professors cannot write objectively.\u201d<\/p>\n

There have been reports of harassment, arrests and detention of members of opposition parties when carrying out party activities at the states.<\/p>\n

Oyet\u2019s position was supported by Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Martin Elia Lomuro, who accused some governors of dismissing state officials without following proper procedures.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should respect all the parties to the agreement in the different offices at different levels of government. We should open a political space in the country so that these parties would go about their businesses implementing the agreement and establishing themselves\u201d Oyet stressed.<\/p>\n
