{"id":28169,"date":"2022-11-27T16:54:50","date_gmt":"2022-11-27T16:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\/all-news\/rumbek-municipality-launches-clean-up-drive"},"modified":"2022-11-27T17:27:18","modified_gmt":"2022-11-27T17:27:18","slug":"rumbek-municipality-launches-clean-up-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\/all-news\/rumbek-municipality-launches-clean-up-drive","title":{"rendered":"Rumbek municipality launches clean-up drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Rumbek town municipality in Rumbek County of Lakes State has launched a massive clean-up exercise to rid the town of garbage.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Radio Tamazuj during the exercise launched at Rumbek market on Thursday, Rumbek Town Mayor Peter Maliap Chieny called on traders and residents to join the cleanup drive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are approaching Christmas and the end of the year, and this needs all of us to keep the town clean from garbage,\u201d Mayor Maliap said.&#8221; The festive season is around the corner, and we expect more visitors to come to Rumbek from the diaspora, Juba and other parts of the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The local official said an unclean environment could result in devastating health effects, which may include waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid and dysentery.
