Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) has called on the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs to present already amended bills to the Council of Ministers.<\/p>\n The RJMEC Chief of Staff, Amb. Berhanu Kebede, made the call yesterday during the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day in Juba.<\/p>\n \u201cRJMEC would like to use this opportunity to appeal to the RTGoNU, in particular to Justice Ruben Madol Arol, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, to expeditiously present all the amendment bills already submitted to him, by the NCAC to the Council of Ministers and table the same before the reconstituted TNLA for enactment as soon as possible,\u201d Berhanu said.<\/p>\n Also, he urged the speaker of the national parliament to forward the constitution bill to the president to clear the way for the clear implementation of the peace agreement.<\/p>\n \u201cWe appeal to the Honorable Madam Speaker to forward the Constitution Bill to H.E. the President for assent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The official highlighted that the enactment of these pending laws and the assent of the Constitution Bill would set a firm foundation for transparency and accountability in South Sudan.<\/p>\n Amb. Berhanu called on the partners to South Sudan\u2019s peace to join hands in building the capacity of an anti-corruption commission and an audit chamber.<\/p>\n \u201cI appeal to our regional and international partners to support the efforts of the government and people of South Sudan to curb this vice of corruption, by building the capacities of critical institutions, like the Anti-Corruption Commission and Audit Chambers and put in place the necessary systems to investigate and curb the multifaceted challenges of corruption, including by sharing best practices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He pointed out that once the Anti-Corruption Commission Bill, is enacted, the commission will be reconstituted in accordance with the amended Act, fully empowered to fight corruption.<\/p>\n He stated that the celebration\u2019s theme, \u201cYour Role, Your Right. Say No to Corruption, Your No Counts,\u201d is especially relevant for South Sudan.<\/p>\n According to Berhanu, the day serves as a reminder to stakeholders of their rights and responsibilities in combating corruption.<\/p>\n \u201cLet it begin with us here.
