Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>500 refugees and local farmers in Ruweng Administrative Area will receive agricultural tools from the government of Turkiye.<\/p>\n

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency has donated five tractors and agricultural tools including hoes, pangas, and axes among others, to boost agricultural production in the northern part of the country.<\/p>\n

Erdem Mutaf, who is the Turkish Ambassador in the country says the donation comes after they visited Jambang this year and found out that the local farmers lack enough agricultural tools.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Mutaf says they are also supporting the society in capacity building, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance, besides the donation of farming tools.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw some difficulties that the agricultural workers need some brand-new equipment and we decided to mobilize our resources to donate some agricultural tools to these people,\u201d he said during the handover ceremony in Juba on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe donated hundreds of agricultural tools to Jamjang farmers. We are supporting many parts of society. We are doing capacity building assistance, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n

On his part, Dut Akol Kuol, the Director-General for protection at the commission for refugee affairs says the tools will help change the lives of the local farmers and contribute to livelihood sustainable.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very happy today to witness the handing over of agricultural tools to the refugee leaders indeed this is a great support to the refugees which will change their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will contribute to the livelihood activities that the refugees are currently doing. I was there in Jamjang in early November and we had a meeting with the farmers the request from the farmers was that they need agricultural tools.\u201d<\/p>\n
