Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan and Sudan have reopened four transport corridors along their borders, the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs has said.<\/p>\n

Tut Gatluak told the press on Tuesday, 27th December 2022, that the four-border point includes Renk \u2013 Jebelein, river transport, the road to Aweil \u2013 Mariam then Panakwach- Bentiu.<\/p>\n

According to Tut, this came after President Salva Kiir and the Deputy Chairman of Sudan\u2019s Sovereign Council Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo discussed bilateral relations and border issues on Tuesday in Juba.<\/p>\n

He says the meeting discussed deepening bilateral ties in the areas of trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Tut Gatluak Manime stated that the meeting also discussed the security situation along border corridors<\/p>\n

The two leaders also talked about mechanisms to explore investment opportunities and foster trade between their countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took out the peace files of the two countries and we discussed the issue of the borders concerning the two countries, and the committee\u2019s activities are very important,\u201d Tut told the media on Tuesday in Juba.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe borders opened four outlets, the road to Renk \u2013 Jebelein, river transport, the road to Aweil \u2013 Mariam then Panakwach- Bentiu. All the discussions will cover the border issues,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe delegation is composed of armed forces from both countries and will discuss everything related to the borders and the trade movement between the two countries.\u201d<\/p>\n

South Sudan shares the longest line with Sudan \u2013 extending at approximately 2000 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Early this year, the two countries agreed to reactivate joint mechanisms to bolster trade and deepen efforts to realize and strengthen bilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n

Others promote peace, security, and stability through the structural prevention of conflicts in the disputed region.<\/p>\n
