Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil, condemned the killing of the three young men from Lakes State in Terekeka County by an unidentified criminal.<\/p>\n In a statement issued by his office, Adil urged the public to maintain calm and allow the authorities to investigate the incident and have the suspects arraigned.<\/p>\n \u201cThe office of the Governor of Central Equatoria State is enormously saddened to learn of the killing of the three citizens of Lakes State in its territory by an unknown gunman in Terekeka County,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n \u201cWe condemn in the strongest terms possible this act of banditry perpetrated by some defiant members of our society. \u201cNevertheless, the people\u2019s centred leadership of Central Equatoria State will use all avenues possible to bring to book such criminals where possible with the help of the security apparatus,\u201d it further stated.<\/p>\n The governor sympathised with the bereaved families and the leaders of the government of Lake State, adding that the two states recognise the value of upholding interstate peace and harmony.<\/p>\n \u201cSince time immemorial, we have promoted peaceful coexistence as evidenced by our shared cultures and traditions, and we have increased trade between our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n Adil\u2019s response was to letter of denunciation addressed to him on Tuesday by Rin Tueny Mabor, his counterpart from Lake State, urging the administration of Central Equatoria State to launch an immediate investigation and hold the actors accountable.<\/p>\n According to the statement, the three young men\u2014Mayen Mayor Majok, Madeng Mayor Majok, and Tarer Akum Adut\u2014were killed on December 31, 2022.<\/p>\n The young men left Juba for Yirol via Tali on two motorbikes when the incident took place. They were ambushed and slain, and their motorbikes were looted, according to a statement from Rin Tueny\u2019s office.<\/p>\n The killings are the most recent to have occurred in Terekeka since the killing of Lawrence Al-Fatih Clement Konga, the son of former Central Equatoria State governor Clement Wani Konga, in 2020.<\/p>\n Other parts of the state have seen an increase in insecurity in recent weeks.
