Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The chairperson of the Civil Society Alliance, Akouch Ajang Nyonhom, condemned the resurgence of the inter-communal conflicts that have so far been felt in various parts of the country.<\/p>\n

According to Nyonhom, the government needs to change tact in its approach to dealing with conflict after the previous task forces failed to yield fruit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought that the state and central governments would intervene as soon as any conflict occurred to prevent it from getting worse, but they did not do,\u201d he said while speaking to The City Review.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many committees being formed by the president to resolve these conflicts, but most of these committees have not seen their work succeed so far.\u201d<\/p>\n

The activist said that for the peace agreement to stay relevant and effective, it must end the frequent civil wars that have led to the deaths of citizens and displaced many more.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also thought that the unified forces that were graduated by the President of the Republic in the previous year (2022) would be deployed in most parts of the country to save the lives and property of citizens, but that did not happen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese soldiers who were graduated in the capital and the states suffer from several problems; for instance, their military ranks were not distributed and [they] did not receive their salaries, so we consider that they were graduated on paper and not in reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the signatories of the peace agreement must stand firm for the people they represent, and President Salva Kiir should activate the military doctrine, hold politicians accountable, and implement the laws in the country.<\/p>\n

Violence has lately rocked parts of the country, such as Pibor, Jonglei, the Upper Nile, Warrap in Tonj and Twic, and the Abyei Special Administration, in the Central Equator.<\/p>\n
