Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The African National Congress party officially launched its 2023 work plan with a focus on mobilisation to gain support and mount a strong challenge against two big parties in the upcoming election.<\/p>\n

Addressing the party members during the launch of the party\u2019s 2023 work plan, the secretary-general of the ANC-South Sudan, Albino Akol, said they were aiming to establish structures of the party in all the states and administrative areas to fully prepare for the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe priorities are the popularisation of the ANC, and this will be achieved through intensive party activities at all levels and in all sectors by making sure that meetings, rallies, debates, press statements, and media interviews are conducted to explain the party\u2019s position,\u201d Akol said.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the ANC party would embrace massive mobilisation for both supporters and resources to ensure that all the plans for 2023 are implemented in order to win the coming election.<\/p>\n

According to Akol, the party has already secured offices to ensure that necessary political engagements start ahead of the upcoming election.<\/p>\n

The popularisation of the ANC party will involve political rallies at all schools and public places and at all levels in the country.<\/p>\n

He also stated that the party would leverage its existing relationships with other parties and influential figures to strengthen itself.<\/p>\n

The party leader said the ultimate goal is to appeal to the youth and women, who comprise the majority of the population, and other groups so that they can buy into party ideals for support.<\/p>\n

Strengthening support<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cAll these arrangements must lead to the proper preparation of the party for the upcoming election after the end of the transitional period in 2024,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He said that this does not stop at this. Mobilising resources for the party would is also another crucial objective to ensure that all political activities meet the target.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the same event, Bol Makueng, Secretary for External Affairs of the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM), said that the SPLM-led government is ready to grant political space to all parties.<\/p>\n

Makueng underlined the need for parties to be involved in peaceful politics to build the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is when we communicate and talk to each other that we can discover the missing link,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He urged political parties to keep bringing attention to the errors made by country leaders and major political parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cTell me the wrong things I do, and I will do them again, and I have to tell you the wrong things that you are doing so that you do not do them again,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The African National Congress (ANC-South Sudan) was established in 2006 and fully registered under the South Sudan Political Parties Act 2012, as amended in 2015. The party exists in all ten states and three administrative areas.<\/p>\n

South Sudan is expected to hold a general election at the end of the transition\u2014after 24 additional months under the roadmap.<\/p>\n
