Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan joined other countries in participating in the G-20 \u201cVoice of the Global South Summit,\u201d which encompassed a deeper discussion on building trade ties to address global economic issues.<\/p>\n

South Sudan\u2019s minister of investment, Dr. Dhieu Mathok Diing, represented the country at the summit, which was hosted by India, through the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.<\/p>\n

A press release from the Indian Embassy in South Sudan reveals that Diing called for support for the Juba administration and highlighted the challenges facing the implementation of the revitalised peace agreement, such as the arms embargo imposed on the country by the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe minister (Diing) shared his views on matters related to trade and investment and effectively conveyed the expectation of South Sudan from the G-20 for the removal of the arms embargo and sanctions,\u201d noted the Indian Embassy in a press release.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe emphasised that South Sudan was facing several challenges and is in need of constructive support from the G-20 for the growth of trade and investment, which are crucial for a new nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other countries that participated in the virtual summit on Friday include Zimbabwe, the D.R. Congo, Benin, Central African Republic, Gabon, Cote d\u2019Ivoire, and Burundi. The others were Malaysia, Myanmar, Haiti, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bolivia, and Timor-Leste.<\/p>\n

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, emphasised \u201cthat it was clear the world was in a state of crisis, and it was difficult to predict how long this state of instability would last.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called on the countries to find a way of uniting so that these challenges could be jointly addressed. After assuming the rotating presidency of the G-20, India hosted the summit with the objective of providing \u201ca special and strong opportunity for those countries that are not part of the G20 process to share their ideas and expectations from the G20.\u201d<\/p>\n
