Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) has presented the drafted National Revenue Act to the Justice Ministry for deliberations.<\/p>\n

The act will strengthen the office of the Commissioner General with the hope of increasing revenue collection.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you are aware, revenue authorities around the world face numerous challenges from people who refuse to pay taxes; they must be able to ensure that everyone pays tax,\u201d NCAC chairman, Gichira Kibara, said.<\/p>\n

he added, emphasising that they would be able to ensure adequate collection and accountability.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have secured the commissioner\u2019s tenure to do the work without interference,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Joseph Malek Arop, said the ministry will ensure that the document will be presented to the Council of Ministers by next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are waiting for legislation related to financial institutions and other legislation. \u201cWe will work hard to submit this bill to the Council of Ministers, and from the Council of Ministers (CoM) we will table it before Parliament to pass it,\u201d Malek said<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will present it to the Council of Ministers next week,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

After the presentation of the National Revenue Authority Act 2016 (amendment) Bill 2023, the minister will now forward it to the CoM and then to parliament.<\/p>\n
