Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan has been named as the preferable model of religious diversity and tolerance between religious communities in the Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n

This is according to the Secretary-General of the Islamic Council of South Sudan Dr. Abdallah Baraj Rwal.<\/p>\n

Baraj said the Selection was made during the World Council of Muslim Communities that was held in China\u2019s Chijangjian Province last week.<\/p>\n

The Islamic Council of South Sudan was selected to share its experience on religious coexistence and tolerance between different communities, cultures, and denominations in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cSouthern Sudan has won the honor of choosing the best country in Africa, south of the Sahara, as a model for peaceful coexistence between religions,\u201d he told Eye Radio.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone believed that the state of South Sudan would witness religious persecution because of the suffering of the southerners in Sudan from the Muslim regimes in Sudan, but the religious communities in South Sudan reflect the spirit of tolerance and brotherhood among them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delegations who participated in the forum are from South Sudan, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Serbia, East, and South Asia, East Europe, the Balkans, and Albania.<\/p>\n

in October last year, a pan-African charity organization commended the peaceful coexistence between South Sudanese Christians and Muslims, communities compared to other countries in the continent.<\/p>\n

According to the Program for Christians-Muslim Relations in Africa, South Sudanese Christians and Muslims have played a key role in peace-building in the country.<\/p>\n
