Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span> <\/b>President Salva Kiir Mayardit Tuesday warned his political rivals against attempting another coup.<\/p>\n

President Kiir issued this warning during the swearing-in ceremony of SPLM Secretary General, Peter Lam Both held at SPLM House on Tuesday in Juba.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to say to you here, for those who would think of making another attempt, if they don\u2019t get me, I will get them definitely because if we leave people, they would turn it to my fear,\u201d Kiir said.<\/p>\n

Kiir said promised that he will never take revenge on anyone who rebel against his government but warned against another attempt to overthrow him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought that event when somebody lost patient and to fight you, if he doesn\u2019t kill you, you need not revenge,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said he has forgiven First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and Taban Deng Gai, whom he accused of causing power struggles in 2013.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the first coup attempt in 2013, I didn\u2019t arrest Taban Deng and I didn\u2019t arrest his in-law Riek Machar, I didn\u2019t arrest them, they started fighting and they flee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who rebelled against me are my members now of the party until they make it again but if they don\u2019t do it, I will not do anything to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December 2013, President Salva Kiir claimed that soldiers loyal to the former vice president tried to overthrow his government.<\/p>\n

In July, Mr. Kiir dismissed his entire cabinet, including his deputy Dr. Machar<\/p>\n

The cabinet shake-up was seen in part as an attempt to ease hostilities with South Sudan\u2019s neighbor to the north, Sudan because some of the members were viewed as longstanding adversaries of Sudan and as obstacles to improving relations.<\/p>\n

But a number of them were also seen as political rivals to Mr. Kiir himself. Earlier in the year, Mr. Machar had hinted at challenging Mr. Kiir for the leadership of their party before the national elections in 2015.<\/p>\n
