Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>President Salva Kiir has directed the committee led by the Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs to evaluate the Juba Peace Agreement signed on October 3, 2022, to restore peace in Sudan.<\/p>\n

This is after Kiir met a delegation from the Sudanese Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC), led by Omer Eldigair, who came to Juba for peace-centred discussion.<\/p>\n

Part of the delegation was the minister of investment and the secretary-general for the Sudan Peace Talks, Dr. Dhieu Mathok, who was confident that the talks went according to plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Salva Kiir directed the committee led by Tut Gatluak to meet with the Sudanese delegation and evaluate the Juba peace agreement,\u201d noted the Office of the President on a statement posted on its Facebook page.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey (the Sudanese team) briefed the President on the ongoing political process in Sudan, which would revive Sudan\u2019s political and economic crisis,\u201d it continued.<\/p>\n

Sudan has recently seen a wave of civilian protests calling for the transition to total civilian rule. Former civilian Prime Minister Dr Abdallah Hamdok was deposed in a military takeover in October 2021, leaving the country reeling from sanctions, including the suspension of membership in the African Union. The Juba Peace Agreement produced a government comprised of civilian and military leadership to address the instability caused by the removal of former President Omar al Bashir.<\/p>\n
