Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A group of lawmakers in the Eastern Equatoria State Transitional Legislative Assembly are calling on the national government to address the border issue with Kenya.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of residents in Kapoeta East County took to the streets last week to protest what they termed the illegal deployment of security forces by Kenya, in the Nakodok area.<\/p>\n

The protest came after Kenya allegedly claimed that Nakodok is the border with South Sudan. A section of South Sudanese claimed the border is in Lokichogio.<\/p>\n

James Natabo, MP for Kapoeta East County in the state parliament, is now calling on the national government to immediately intervene and solve the border issue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Nadapal issue has become chronic and has never been solved since 2009 and the national government is keeping silence,\u201d said Jeff Longoria Lokidi, who hails from Kapoeta South.<\/p>\n

He further added that such silence \u201cis jeopardising the integrity of the territorial claims of this country.\u201d<\/p>\n

He urged the national government to make use of its international border committee, saying they were expecting the government to use the mechanism to address the issues of international borders.<\/p>\n

Hellen Worasio, another Member of Parliament, called on the national government to address the issue once and for all.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet them (politicians) come and solve the problem right away because we don\u2019t want to fight but rather have peace with our neighbours.\u201d<\/p>\n
