{"id":32157,"date":"2023-02-15T11:28:18","date_gmt":"2023-02-15T11:28:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\/all-news\/govt-minister-says-poor-infrastructure-insecurity-affecting-trade"},"modified":"2023-02-15T11:50:18","modified_gmt":"2023-02-15T11:50:18","slug":"govt-minister-says-poor-infrastructure-insecurity-affecting-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\/all-news\/govt-minister-says-poor-infrastructure-insecurity-affecting-trade","title":{"rendered":"Gov\u2019t minister says poor infrastructure, insecurity affecting trade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s minister of trade and industry Kuol Athian Mawien on Tuesday described lack of infrastructure and insecurity as major hindrances to trade in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The senior government official \u2013 who was speaking during the 3rd trade fair exhibition dubbed \u201cMade in South Sudan Exhibition\u201d held at Nyakuron Cultural Centre in Juba \u2013 said lack of electricity and others are posing difficulties to traders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince we got our independence, we have insecurity in the country; there are some products in Western Equatoria that can\u2019t be taken to Northern Bahr el Ghazal or Lakes State because of insecurity,\u201d Kuol told the gathering.<\/p>\n<p>The senior government official noted that due to the poor state of the road across the country, perishable goods are not reaching the market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe road network is not available in the country and we are not accessible to some states, our product can\u2019t reach the market,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Northern Bahr el Ghazal, there are some products available but they can\u2019t reach Western and Eastern Equatoria, and the same in Eastern Equatoria there are products that can\u2019t reach Upper Nile and this is the problem facing us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He said acute power and water shortages hinder industrial trade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen a businessman come to South Sudan and want to establish industry there is a problem of power and the problem of water, we have power in Juba but it can\u2019t cover the whole city,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\">South-Sudan<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Sudan.
