Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Warrap State officials say calm had returned to Tonj North County after joint forces were deployed in Majak Payam.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the two sections of Juer and Palieu-piny clans clashed over stolen cows leaving four people dead and eight injured.<\/p>\n

Ayok Malueth, Tonj North County Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that security forces were deployed to contain the situation.<\/p>\n

“I went to the scene the previous day and I sent four military cars ahead of me from Aliek Payam and the Abil Nyanng Boma in the Toch area to rescue the situation,” he said.<\/p>\n

“What happened was that thieves from Unity State and Tonj North county of Warrap cooperated along the border, The thieves from Tonj steal cows and take them to Unity state and the same thing is done by Unity cattle rustlers,” he explained.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Atek Mondhar Atek, a state MP from Tonj North County confirmed that the situation is relatively calm.<\/p>\n

“The misunderstanding came as cows were stolen from the Juer section and when they followed them they didn’t get cows and resorted to fighting Palieupiny youth who were residing with Nuer youth. Four people were killed and more than eight people were wounded but the governor dispatched forces and brought stability,” he said.<\/p>\n
