Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Members of parliament representing Lainya County of Central Equatoria State in the transitional parliament on Monday demanded an investigation into the killing of five farmers in Wuji Payam of Lainya County on Saturday.<\/p>\n

On 4th March 2023, suspected cattle herders from Bor went on rampart shooting at Limuro Trading Center in Wuji Payam of Lainya County, killing 5 people including the head teacher of Limuro Primary School and 9 others sustained injuries.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters on Monday in Juba, Dusman Joyce James, a lawmaker representing Lainya County at the national parliament called on the government to investigate and prosecute suspected perpetrators behind the Lainya County killings.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe demand an immediate and full investigation on these incidences of killing and the outcome should be made public,\u201d Dusman said.<\/p>\n

Dusman called on state authorities to immediately evacuate the cattle herder from Lainya County.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe demand the immediate removal of all armed cattle herders from territories of Lainya County in particular and Central Equatoria in general,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She called on humanitarian actors to provide aid to displaced persons.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe request the government and humanitarian partners to intervene and provide humanitarian support for the needy people in Limuro and other places of Lainya County affected by the influx of cattle armed herders,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

David Meta Zachariah, Chairman of Wuji Payam Community in Lainya County disclosed over 300 households have been forced out of their homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have so far 300 households displaced and still the number is increasing because security on the ground is not stable yet,\u201d said Meta.<\/p>\n
