Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Rumbek power station has been renovated by the Egyptian government after it stopped working more than 10 years ago.<\/p>\n

Lakes State Minister of Information William Koji said the station has been out of service since 2011.<\/p>\n

Koji said the breakdown at the power station was due to the war that started in 2013.<\/p>\n

The minister said the power plant is awaiting commissioning by the government.<\/p>\n

He added that the station operation capacity is 3.5 megawatts<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project was donated by the Egyptian Government in 2009. due to the 2013 crisis and the security situation in the state, the government fails to manage it,\u201d Koji said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, we have renewed the project and the Egyptian government send engineers to work and fix the electric generator. Yesterday the Engineer test the generator and it operates well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government also signed an agreement with Trinity Energy to take over the management of the power and to extend the connection of the power.\u201d<\/p>\n

The official also said the state government plans to extend the power to the counties.<\/p>\n

Speaking to SSBC on Saturday, the representative of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Power Company, Engineer Sami Abu Warda said the power station is ready for use.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have conducted a trial operation of the station. The station and the network have been maintained and rehabilitated to the highest specifications.\u201d<\/p>\n
