Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A youth activist has raised concerns over the lack of medicines and inadequate medical personnel at state-run hospital in Warrap State.<\/p>\n

The Secretary of Information of Warrap Youth Union, Ignatius Achuil Bak says health workers have deserted the public health facilities due to improper attention to retaining them.<\/p>\n

According to him, the health situation of the people is deteriorating due to a poor health system in the state.<\/p>\n

Achuil added that the health facilities do not have enough drugs, and despite raising the matter with the state ministry, there hasn\u2019t been any intervention.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently we do not have medical doctors in the state, our medical doctors have left the state for NGOs. Another problem, we do not have enough drugs in our health facilities,\u201d the youth activist told Eye Radio.<\/p>\n

However, responding to the allegations, the State\u2019s Minister of Information and Communication, William Wol admitted the dire health situation in the state.<\/p>\n

He attributed the health crisis to the withdrawal of the Health Pool Fund from the public health facilities across the country last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe minister is not responsible for the withdrawal of the Health Pooled Fund or the minister refuses the money or budget of the ministry of health to be operationalized in the hospital of Kuajok. It is not a mistake of the minister of health,\u201d said Wol.<\/p>\n

In December last year, the National Minister of Health Yolanda Awel Deng blamed the poor health services in the country on underfunding by the government, saying her ministry was one of the least-funded institutions in the country, citing inequality in the allocation of resources.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health had warned that eight major hospitals would be affected after the Health Pooled Fund announced scaling down its support last year.<\/p>\n

Efforts to reach the state minister of health were not successful.<\/p>\n
