Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice President of Economic Dr James Wani Igga, called for the spirit of unity to help the country pursue its reconciliation goals.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Rajaf at the conclusion of the peace tour on Wednesday, Igga urged the Central Equatoria State government to commence a countrywide disarmament program for a lasting peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we (the government) fail to take guns from the hands of the civilians, there will be a lack of security in any country. \u201cThe government is the only body that is supposed to have guns,\u2019\u2019 Igga said.<\/p>\n

He urged the local chiefs to advise the youth and the elders to continue embracing peace, adding that with the expected resumption of Rome peace talks, there was bound to be stability.<\/p>\n

However, the governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil, warned against land grabbing that has been fueling insecurity. He vowed action against the perpetrators.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are sending more security forces to deal with the land grabbers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Juba County Commissioner Charles Wani echoed his sentiments, arguing the menace has been eating the state. He faulted the lapses in the criminal justice system.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe normally arrest the land grabbers, but after spending three days with them out, we really don\u2019t know what we are doing,\u201d Joseph said.<\/p>\n

Wani urged the communities to report all the illegal acts of land grabbing in the state to the government sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to respect the rule of law, anyone caught grabbing land from the community must face the law, regardless of who he is, we are against people with negative activities who are trying to take over the territory of the state government,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The peace tour aims at addressing the challenges facing the people in the state. The tour started last month in Kajo Keji after the heinous killing of 27 people and it concluded with Rajaf payam.<\/p>\n
