Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Democratic Party (FDP) launched a massive membership drive over the weekend in readiness for the upcoming general elections in 2024.<\/p>\n

The \u2018yellow party\u2019 is a member of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA).<\/p>\n

Among the activities lined up by the FDP are the registration of new members, political rallies, and cadre training as they seek to lure more members into their ranks.<\/p>\n

The event marked the official move by the party to embark on political mobilization to solidify its fan base as it positioned itself for the upcoming election in 2024.<\/p>\n

The party chairperson, Gabriel Changson Chang, said the launch marked the beginning of a brighter future for South Sudanese opposition politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the FDP, we shall always focus on the election as we believe in democratic ways of power transfer, so we need to prepare enough to be ready for the election,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He encouraged members to work hard to ensure that the masses are informed about the importance of democracy, adding that all citizens must shun violence.<\/p>\n

Changkuoth Bichiock Reth, Secretary-General of the FDP, stated that his party would prioritize peace implementation and peaceful elections.<\/p>\n

He said that the FDP is ready to take part in the upcoming election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe in the idea that political power is transferred through the election, not war, and the FDP is ready to go to the field tomorrow, to contest in the counties, states, and at the national level.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here ready to mobilize enough membership to ensure we take part in the 2024 election,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He further said that the party would safeguard the rights of South Sudanese by ensuring justice in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cFDP wants all the citizens to get services freely and without discrimination,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He stated that the FDP has over 24 members serving in the current government.<\/p>\n

\u201cFighting all forms of discrimination in the country will remain our focus as a party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He appealed to citizens to embark on peace as the country approaches election season.<\/p>\n
