Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Jonglei State Minister of Housing, Land and Public Utility has been suspended by the deputy governor till further notice over a land dispute in Bor town.<\/p>\n

Jacob Akech Dengdit, the state\u2019s second most senior official suspended Isaac Mamer Ruk Anyieth on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The order did not explain what offense the minister has committed but directed him to stay home till further notice.<\/p>\n

The deputy of Denay Jock Chagor also instructed the minister to handover the stamp and letterhead of office to Jonglei State police commissioner and director of CID.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Eye Radio, minister Mamer revealed that his administrative action toward land issues in Bor town contributed to his suspension.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday, I was away in the distance of 45 Kilo meter where we are constructing dike, when I came back in less than 45 minutes I received a suspension order that I had been suspended by deputy governor of Jonglei, so that\u2019s true it had happened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said in the few weeks, there were issues of land \u2013 including that of women evicted from their selling point which was given to them since 2006, 2007 and 2008 as well as the issue of Bor City Garden.<\/p>\n

Mamer believes that he might have been suspended because he canceled all the local arrangements made by the Bor town Mayor and gave those lands back to their owners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s was a complaint from some citizens of Jonglei state because in 2006, 2007 and 2008 some plots were allotted to women group where they sell vegetable crops in the open place in the market.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was demarcated and former governor Kuol Manyang Juk talk to UNDP and the place was built by the UNDP. In that place, women were evicted by force and the land was sold to somebody with a lot of dollars and women were chased away and I was away that time.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January this year, dozens of businesswomen went to the streets of Bor Town on Monday to protest the demolition of a booming market point at Marol Market in Bor.<\/p>\n
