Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Turkish community in Juba together with South Sudangovernment officials, diplomats and NGOs representatives on Fridaycelebrated98thanniversary of proclamation of the Republic of Turkey.<\/p>\n

Turkey gained its independence day on 23rd October, 1923, when the first president Mustafa Kemal Ataturk officially declared status of nation here afteras a Republic of Turkey \u2018T\u00fcrkiye Cumhuriyeti\u2019. But Since 23 April, 1920 Turkey had existed in reality(de facto) during the date of the establishment of the Grand National Assemblyof Turkey.<\/p>\n

In Ankara, Republic Day is an official holiday werepeople visit the country\u2019s mausoleum, Anitkabir founded by Ataturk. The ceremonyis also accompanied by concerts, parades and fireworks across the country.<\/p>\n

Addressing the event, the Turkish Ambassador to SouthSudan, Erdem Mutaf also read President Recep Tayyip Erdogan\u2019s speech applaudedAtaturk the founder of the republic and congratulated the Turkish army as wellas extended the best wishes to all Turkishacross globe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI congratulate our citizens, living at home and aboardand all our friends who share our pride on this day, which is one of the goldenlinks of our glorious history, on the occasion of 29 October, Republic Day,\u201dMutaf said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurkish and South Sudan enjoy exemplary bilateralrelationship, Turkish Embassy has been serving for the last ten years withoutinterruption. We are doing our best to diversify our bilateral relation,\u201d headded.<\/p>\n

He also highlight the role Turkish Red Crescent andTurkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) played in providinghumanitarian and disaster relief which much appreciated by government and localsociety.<\/p>\n

Speaking on behalf of the government, the minister ofPresidential Affairs, Barnaba Marial Benjaminpassed on good wishes to thegovernment and people of Turkey on the eve of the republic day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe deeply appreciate that today we are here and sharewith you your freedom, the day of your happiness,\u201d Benjamin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cwe have had a wonderful relation with Turkey many thingshad been done as his excellency (Erdem) has mentioned in areas of capacitybuilding programme, we have seen in the areas of humanitarian assistance inwhich TIKA continues to build that friendship and those ties are related topeople to people relationship,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He also urged friends to support the implementation ofpeace to pave ways for the usage of untapped resources such as agriculture,wildlife, and livestock among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cwe have come out of war including our internal war nowwe are enhancing in fact we are encouraging speedy movement toward theimplementation of the revitalized peace agreement, this is important becausepeace is a corner stone of development,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n
