{"id":34471,"date":"2023-04-01T16:46:30","date_gmt":"2023-04-01T16:46:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\/all-news\/200-suspects-stuck-at-juba-police-detentions-says-official"},"modified":"2023-04-01T17:18:26","modified_gmt":"2023-04-01T17:18:26","slug":"200-suspects-stuck-at-juba-police-detentions-says-official","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\/all-news\/200-suspects-stuck-at-juba-police-detentions-says-official","title":{"rendered":"200 suspects stuck at Juba police detentions \u2013 says official"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The prosecution authorities in Central Equatoria State said a backlog of cases has left more than 200 suspects stranded in different police detention facilities in Juba.<\/p>\n<p>Saber Wani, the head of Legal Administration in Central Equatoria State revealed the backlog of cases during an inspection visit to nine police stations in Juba on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are currently detained at the Traffic Police center, Gudele Police station, Munuki police station, New Site, and Northern and Central Division, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Wani says the administration is facing challenges in transferring the inmates from police custody to court and to prison.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters in Juba, he said most police stations lack standard vehicles for visiting crime scenes and transporting suspects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the police station has the problem of transportation of detainees from the police custody to the main prison and from prison to the court and this is the reason for the delay and adjourned the cases at court,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere another challenge that faces all police stations there is are no standard vehicles that can be used quickly to respond to crime and visit crimes scenes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On his part, Deng Acuil Adiga, the Director of Public Prosecution in the Ministry of Justices said they are working to address this challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe found out that 226 remains under investigation in these 9 police station in juba we get many challenges and we are going to address this challenge and we are going to report it as a recommendation to the minister of justice who conduct us for this mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the Director General of South Sudan Prison Services says that the facility received daily 40 inmates most of them Ganges suspected youth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-sudan\">South-Sudan<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Sudan.
