Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Passenger and goods drivers\u2019 vehicles have resumed plying the Juba-Bor road after it was closed for a couple of days due to attacks on vehicles.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, at least 3 passengers were killed and four others injured in separate attacks along the highway, and on Wednesday the driver and turn boy a foreign registered goods truck were stopped and beaten by assailants.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Friday evening, Thon Philip Nhial, the deputy head of the drivers\u2019 union in Bor, said commercial and private vehicles had recommenced normal movement along the vital supply road.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom this (Friday) morning there has been no report of any attack on travelers and everything seems to be okay because people have been moving from morning up to this time,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is nothing that happened on the road. The authorities of Central Equatoria State held talks with the Mundari yesterday (Thursday) so now they are quiet and have stooped attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bor Police Commissioner Major General Elia Costa also confirmed the resumption of movement between Bor and Juba.<\/p>\n

\u201cVehicles are coming and going but there is still fear among the people and most of them are going as a convoy. Yesterday (Thursday) there was a delegation that came from Juba up to the area (Mangala IDP camp) and stayed there till they agreed that the road can be reopened,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople are now moving but I see that they are still fearing.\u201d<\/p>\n
