Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has announced record-breaking non-oil revenue collections for the month of April 2023.<\/p>\n

The tax collectors said they managed to surpass last month\u2019s target by slightly close to three billion pounds.<\/p>\n

The NRA director general said they collected SSP 19.8 billion against a monthly target of SSP 17 billion.<\/p>\n

The NRA attributes this success to the majority of citizens who have embraced their duty to pay taxes voluntarily.<\/p>\n

In a statement, NRA Commissioner-General Patrick Mugoya urged those who have yet to comply with paying taxes to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe majority of our citizens are swiftly embracing their noble duty of paying taxes voluntarily…making gross non-oil revenue collections for April 2023 of SSP 19.8 billion exceed any monthly performance to date,\u201d he said in a tweet.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI, therefore, call upon the remaining few non-compliant taxpayers to join the side of the majority before it gets too late and too bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NRA remains committed to facilitating compliant taxpayers while cracking down on non-compliant ones.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur determination to facilitate compliant taxpayers while thrashing out non-compliant ones remains as unshaken as it has always been,\u201d Mugoya emphasized.<\/p>\n

The record-breaking non-oil revenue collections for April 2023 represent a significant milestone for the NRA and for South Sudan\u2019s economic target, where the monthly target was set at 17 billion South Sudanese pounds.<\/p>\n

The success, according to Magoya, is a testament to the efforts of compliant taxpayers and the NRA\u2019s commitment to enforcing tax compliance.<\/p>\n
