Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Department of Immigration has waived the visa requirement for Sudanese entering the country during the ongoing war in Khartoum.<\/p>\n

Other countries that may need their nationalities evacuated through South Sudan have been asked to make prior arrangements by communicating with the local authorities to avert potential cases where those running away from war may run into trouble with the local immigration officials, according to Director General of Immigration, Atem Marol Biar.<\/p>\n

Marol further directed all the top immigration officials along the borders of Sudan and South Sudan not to ask for any documents of entry from Sudanese people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a clear directive to all our officers working on borders to receive Sudanese entering South Sudan without asking for visas,\u201d Director Marol said when he addressed journalists Monday, May 8.<\/p>\n

He said every refugee entering the country should be treated with respect as long as they are not from South Sudan.<\/p>\n

Those coming in (refugees), however, are advised not to move further inland unless they are properly documented.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have seen many people, including those who are supposed to be refugees, being airlifted from Paloch and Renk straight to Juba, which is a big concern to us.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you enter the country without being registered, that means you need to be questioned,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

South Sudan has since received more than 4,000 people fleeing the war in Sudan.<\/p>\n

The government said Monday, May 8, that they plan to evacuate at least 10,000 people this month.<\/p>\n
