Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Council of Ministers, in its regular meeting yesterday, passed the Civil Aviation Authority Act Bill 2010\u20132012 Amendment Bill 2023.<\/p>\n

The bill was presented to the cabinet by the minister of justice and constitutional affairs, Ruben Madol, on Friday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Michael Makuei Lueth, minister of information and government spokesperson, said the Aviation Authority Act 2010\u20132012 provides the system for the establishment of the aviation authority.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt ensures aviation safety, the security of the air drowning at the airport, and compliance with the aviation standard,\u201d Makuei said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was an act, and it was amended in accordance with the provisions of the agreement. This amendment was passed, and this presentation was also passed as a bill, and the minister of justice is directed to include some of the amendment and present the bills to the assembly for consideration,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

The South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority Act, 2012, Chapter 2, Section 6, states that \u201c<\/b>There shall be established in South Sudan an autonomous body to be known as the Civil Aviation Authority, hereafter referred to as the Authority\u201d.<\/p>\n

It adds that the \u201cathority shall be an autonomous corporate body, capable of suing and being sued in its own name, with its own corporate seal and logo, and shall have perpetual succession.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt shall have the power to borrow money, acquire and dispose of property, and do or perform such other acts as may lawfully be done or performed by any corporate entity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The seat of the authority shall be in the capital city of South Sudan, and it may establish branch offices within and outside South Sudan.<\/p>\n

The civil aviation authority is mandated with managing the country\u2019s air transport and ensuring that the airspace is properly regulated.<\/p>\n
