Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The chairperson of the Board of Directors of the South Sudan National Revenue Authority, Stephen Dhieu, answered some NRA staff who criticised the former commissioner-general, Patrick Mugoya, accusing the latter of using unprocedural means to remove unqualified staff.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were seeing him (Mugoya) base [his actions] on the law and not on personal relationships or anything emotional, Dhieu said while addressing staff of the NRA at the reception of newly appointed commissioner general Athian Ding Athian on Tuesday.<\/p>\n According to him, the institution is guided by the NRA Act 2016, the code of conduct, and the strategic five years plan which runs until 2027.<\/p>\n \u201cI think those are the documents that are governing our business here; this document was not brought by a foreigner,\u201d Dhieu stressed.<\/p>\n He said Mugoya was only implementing government programmes and that nobody was victimised.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to implement according to the provisions of this document,\u201d Dhieu said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe agreed to continue with dialogue; now you have a new chief, the new commissioner general. He will be working with us, with you; we see a way forwards, and nobody is against you.\u201d<\/p>\n He said 80 percent of the jobs would go to the skilled force and that all the positions would be identified by the ministries of public service, interior, and finance.<\/p>\n He stated that the National Revenue Authority is not operating in isolation but under geopolitical pressure as part of the multi-lateral arrangement in the region and globally.<\/p>\n \u201cWhatever thing we are doing, we should not reduce it to ourselves; we are here representing institutions that have to serve the country and people of South Sudan.\u201d<\/p>\n Dr. Patrick Kennedy Mugoya, a Tanzanian national, was appointed to head the South Sudan National Revenue Authority in October 2020 and worked for 33 remarkable months before President Kiir sacked him this month.<\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About South-Sudan<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Matia Samuel Africa-Press – South-Sudan.
