Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The National Legislative Assembly has allayed fears that the recent dismissal of Dier Tong Ngor from the finance docket will affect the ongoing budget preparation for the Financial Year 2023-2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease take it from me; it will never affect the budget process,\u201d John Agany Agany, Parliament\u2019s spokesperson, said.<\/p>\n

Ngor, who was appointed to the capricious docket on August 4, 2022, was sacked by President Salva Kiir on August 3, just hours before his first anniversary in office.<\/p>\n

The finance docket is perhaps the most volatile job to hold in South Sudan, with ten heads having been rotated on the same seat between 2011 and now.<\/p>\n

Ngor leaves office at a time when parliament is still debating the long-overdue budget that is two months behind schedule.<\/p>\n

Agany, however, said, his sacking last Thursday, would not affect the ongoing process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe minister who was dismissed (Ngor) was not going to contribute much because the budget is already in the possession of the house (parliament).\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked why the changes might have been executed by the appointing authority, Agany said:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was one of the best ministers that we have ever had because, from June all, all the salaries arrears (owed to civil servants) have been paid.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt least he implemented chapter one; let others also come and implement chapter two.\u201d<\/p>\n

He cautioned public servants against misusing their offices. \u201cYou should not embezzle the public money just because you will be taken away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ngor tabled a SSP 2.1 trillion budget in June.<\/p>\n
