Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Deputy Chairman of Sudan\u2019s Sovereign Council, Malik Agar, announced on Tuesday a detailed roadmap aimed at resolving the persistent conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces \u201cRSF,\u201d while concurrently laying the groundwork for the nation\u2019s resurgence through an inclusive political process.<\/p>\n

During a live broadcast on the state-run television network from Port Sudan, Agar articulated that the roadmap\u2019s inception would hinge on the establishment of an immediate ceasefire, followed by the demarcation of hostilities and the cantonment of RSF troops to sites distanced from civilian centers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe roadmap will commence by achieving a ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, separation of combatants, and relocating the Rapid Support Forces to designated cantonment areas situated far from residential zones,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Agar further elaborated that subsequent to the cessation of hostilities, a humanitarian campaign would be initiated to supply aid to the afflicted regions as well as the devastated areas.<\/p>\n

This initiative, he highlighted, would not only address the needs of war-ravaged zones but also extend assistance to regions that have been untouched by the conflict, with the overarching goal of ensuring a dignified quality of life for all citizens.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Chairman emphasized that the blueprint encompasses a comprehensive political strategy aimed at reconstructing the nation\u2019s fabric, thereby establishing the constitutional bedrock that would pave the way for forthcoming general elections, recognized as the definitive avenue to wield political authority.<\/p>\n

Addressing the matter of post-conflict justice, Agar maintained the imperative to bring fugitives who had escaped from correctional facilities and prisons to justice. Moreover, he expressed the pressing necessity of apprehending individuals linked to the defunct regime, who stand accused of perpetrating grave human rights violations and political transgressions during their tenure.<\/p>\n

Following the 2021 coup against Prime Minister Abdala Hamdok, Al Burhan and Hemedti established a military government whose highest body is the Sudan Sovereign Council.<\/p>\n

In May, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the president of the Sovereign Council, fired Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), from his position as Council vice-president.<\/p>\n

The position of Vice President and Deputy Chairman of the Sudan Sovereign Council was assumed by Malik Agar, leader of the rebel group “Northern Sector Popular Movement” and member of the Council of Ministers.<\/p>\n
