Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs will soon table the draft bill for the compensation and reparation authority in parliament for its subsequent debate and clearance.<\/p>\n

The draft bill was part of the discussion between the minister of justice and constitutional affairs, Ruben Madol, and the UN representatives on Thursday, as they some of the pending legal tasks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have already drafted the bill for compensation and reparation authority in the parliament,\u201d said Gabriel Isaac, the undersecretary of the ministry, who addressed the media after the meeting.<\/p>\n

He said there was also a discussion on how to combat various crimes such as sexual violations among others. He added this can be achieved through effective training for the prosecutors and investigators.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have discussed the importance of having legislative reform in the country, and we have agreed to deploy the team that will help in protecting the victims of the conflict in the country,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Pramila Patten, said, the discussion was fruitful as I focused on the blueprints of dealing with sexual crimes.<\/p>\n

\u201d The United Nations and my office, through the team of experts on the rule of law, will continue to support the legislative reform efforts of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs,\u201d Patten said.<\/p>\n

Pattern added South Sudan is on the right trajectory because it is proceeding with the domestication of its laws in line with all the conventions and treaties that it has ratified.<\/p>\n
