Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span> <\/b> South Sudan\u2019s central bank governor Johny Ohisa, who was removed by President Salva Kiir Mayardit last night, has welcomed his dismissal and said that the country\u2019s economy saw stability during his tenure.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have over the last three years in the apex of the Bank walked in your vision and mission of this country to help in resuscitating the economy to its full potential capacity,\u201d he said in a statement seen by Sudans Post today.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bank of South Sudan has had stability in pursuing her primary objectives and revamped the financial sector that will spur economic growth in the country,\u201d he said, stating that all these \u201cwould not have been possible without your meticulous support and guidance to the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ohisa was first appointed as First Deputy Governor of Central Bank in 2021, and then elevated to full governor last year when his predecessor Moses Makur Deng was sacked in the backdrop of economic crisis that saw the pound plummeting to unprecedented low against foreign currencies.<\/p>\n

In the statement welcoming his sacking, Ohisa congratulated the incoming governor, James Alic Garang, who he said is coming to the country\u2019s top financial institution with a \u201cwealth of experience\u201d from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Alic Garang is a seasoned senior Economist with proven track record of success in both Public and Private Sectors. He has high acumen for about our country\u2019s economy and the myriad challenges besetting it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very confident that, they will form a formidable team to work together and take off from where we left off with my former Deputies to lead the Bank to the new heights and contribute to the economic development of the country,\u201d he added of the new central bank administration.<\/p>\n

Kiir\u2019s decrees last night also saw the removal of Addis Ababa Othow as first deputy governor of the central bank and replaced him with Samuel Yanga Mikaya.<\/p>\n

He also removed John Machiek Achuoth as second deputy governor and replaced him with Nyiel Gordon Kuol.<\/p>\n

The president also sacked Athian Diing Athian as commissioner-general of the National Revenue Authority and replaced him with his deputy Africano Monday.<\/p>\n

Athian was appointed to the position in June this year to replace Tanzanian citizen Patrick Mugoya.<\/p>\n

Kiir then appointed Albino Dak Kur as the new deputy commissioner-general of the National Revenue Authority after elevating his predecessor Africano Monday.<\/p>\n
