Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The fact-finding committee tasked to investigate the death of British-American Christopher Allen has assured the public to conduct its investigation in a professional way to reach its goal.<\/p>\n

Early this week, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the death of journalist British-American Christopher Allen.<\/p>\n

The journalist was killed on the 26th of May 2017 during clashes between the government and SPLA-IO forces in the border town of Kaya in Central Equatoria State.<\/p>\n

The 6-member committee headed by Justice Charles Ali Bial is tasked to investigate the circumstances that led to his death.<\/p>\n

The members of the committee are; Brigedier General Riak Bim Top, Brig. Gen. Jalpan Obyec Kir, Brigadier General Alex Makelele.<\/p>\n

Lawrence Kamilo Loro, George Stephen Lomeling, and Ochala Paul Omal are others.<\/p>\n

Justice Charles Ali Bial who is the committee chairperson describes the matter as a call for the nation to deal responsibly<\/p>\n

He spoke on the state\u2019s own TV, SSBC on Wednesday, October 4, after briefing the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Martin Elia Lomuro about the work of the committee.<\/p>\n

Justice Charles says it has a mechanism to work in a technical and professional way to reach its goal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the presence of all members of the committee which include rapporteur and members of national security and police serves and ministry of justice,\u201d said Charles Ali.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe briefed the minister about what we had done and the mechanism of our work we hope this we help us to do our work in a technical and professional way to reach our goal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to inform all South Sudanese that this is a call for the nation we have to deal responsibly.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Ministerial order issued by Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro on Monday, the committee is mandated to identify, summon, and interview any relevant witnesses or witnesses of the incident.<\/p>\n

Where it deems necessary, co-opts any relevant member or members.<\/p>\n

The committee has 15 working days from the date of its signature to submit its findings and recommendations.<\/p>\n
