Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the South Sudan National Youth Union has pledged to relinquish his role peacefully and hand over the responsibility to the next body as his term ends in December this year.<\/p>\n

With the 4-year-term of the current leadership expiring in December, the Union is preparing for a convention to elect a new leadership.<\/p>\n

Addressing the members, Gola Boyoi, the Youth Union\u2019s President says they are starting the process of accepting to leave the power and giving chance to new people.<\/p>\n

Boyoi says the move is to promote the culture of democracy among the young people who in turn will transfer the same values to the country\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n

He stressed that it a necessary and critical step in ensuring respect for peaceful democratic values since youth are the future leaders of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recognition that we always get is something you don\u2019t want to let it go. You have been recognized everywhere, you can go anywhere, you have that social status.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it is not easy for us just to say it, now let it go, it is a very hard decision and if Gola did it, am sure the next person will also do it more.<\/p>\n

\u201cTen years to come from now, we expect leaders who will come out of these youth spaces as presidents, ministers and everything in this country,\u201d said the outgoing youth president.<\/p>\n

He called on the upcoming leaders of the union to respect the Union\u2019s constitution and relinquish power once their terms come to an end.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome candidates may be within this hall, if you are going to assume the leadership, there are a lot of privileges and after 4 years, don\u2019t feel like I don\u2019t want to relinquish these privileges. You have to make sure that you hand it over,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The youth President spoke Thursday during an event to unveil the Roadmap Towards the 3rd National Youth Convention under the theme: \u201cTowards Sustainable Youth Development.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, if we are starting this process of accepting to leave the power and give chance to new people to come and implement, the South Sudan is going to be in a good health and we are going to have a bright future in this Country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gola also encourages the young people aspiring for the union\u2019s leadership to start campaigning by launching their manifestos.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou (aspirant) have to start from today launching your manifesto or announcing your candidacy while we are waiting for the official process of the candidates, he added<\/p>\n
