Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudanese students in Israel say they are safe amidst the ongoing firing of missiles and rockets between the Israeli Defence Force and Hamas of Palestine.<\/p>\n

There are 22 South Sudanese university students studying under the Israeli government scholarship in Jerusalem, Herzliya and Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n

And about 120 South Sudanese immigrants mainly women and children are reportedly staying in the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva, Bear\u2019r Shava, Afola, Aratt and Eilat.<\/p>\n

They had crossed to Israel through the border of Egypt before the independence of South Sudan in 2011.<\/p>\n

The students told Eye Radio in an exclusive interview Wednesday morning that they are far from the border with Gaza where Hamas attacked on Saturday morning<\/p>\n

Three of them by the names of Omot Thomas and Deng say they are living in a very safe environment despite some rockets landing across the cities.<\/p>\n

\u201cSouth Sudanese community is safe from all these kinds of kidnapping or injuries, and most of us are in Tel Aviv and for a little bit from Gaza. We are okay and we thank God for that,\u201d said Omot Thomas<\/p>\n

Another student Amos Chan said, \u201cWe are all safe, and we are living in a very safe environment. To our family back home, they should not worry, we are all safe and the country is gaining back security across all the states\u201d.<\/p>\n

And third speaker Deng said \u201d I am living in Tel Aviv, we just came on running to the shelter, we are all good, and we just heard a rocket now and not one has fallen, everyone is doing good.\u2019<\/p>\n

Other undergraduates in Tel Aviv have assured their families of their safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t hear any bad news about our South Sudanese here, all the relatives and friends in South Sudan, we are sending our messages to you that all of us are safe,\u201d said Boutros George.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Paul Obonga Nelson Oyet said just want to let my family back home that I am fine I am in good shape I am in good condition.<\/p>\n

In a retaliatory move on Sunday, the Israeli government launched airstrike into Gaza, targeting what it describes as the terror group.<\/p>\n

Over 1200 people have been killed in Israel and 2,800 injured.<\/p>\n

In Gaza, over 1055 People have been killed, 5183 injured and 36,000 displaced following Israeli air raids.<\/p>\n
